Dr. Arce performed surgery on me for cervical dystonia (spasmodic torticollis) in 2003. He told me that my share of costs would be $780.00. I wrote a check for that amount the day before my surgery. After my insurance paid, I received a bill for almost $8,000.00. I live in California, so I have been trying to contact him for information about my surgery for my neurologist in Ca. I have called many, many times, never talking to a real person, but always leaving a message for someone to call me back. After more than 20 phone calls no one has ever called me back. I've sent numerous letters to which I have received no response until the last one which was registered. The response was that I owe Dr. Arce $8,000.00. There was no mention of my health concerns, my inability to contact his office or the fact that my neurologist could not reach him for information. They have shown absolutely no interest in my health after the surgery or my inability to contact them.
The people in the financial office at the University of Jacksonville have been most helpful and have tried to contact him for me, but they told me that they, too, are unable to reach him.
