Description:
Between the on-line poll and individual e-mails I received, we have about 25-30 responses. Thursday seems to be the winning weekday for our event at The Wine Bar (formerly known as Tastings). Meet us at The Wine Bar (Southbank/San Marco) on Thursday, September 18th for wine, appetizers and live music. The owner has offered to provide each of our group members with a $20 debit card for a cost of only $10 each. Additional cards will be charged at normal price. Also, he'll provide a cheese tray and/or other appetizers for the group. They also have a nice menu of tapas and specialty pizzas to order at reasonable prices if you prefer. The music is typically either a jazz band or an acoustical duo on Thursdays, but I'll update if that changes. Music usually starts around 8:00 pm. As always, please keep your RSVP updated. They have agreed to hold a large group of tables for our group, so I'd like to be able to provide an accurate headcount a couple days in advance. The Wine Bar is located along the east side of Hendricks Avenue at Prudential Drive (in front of the Chart House restaurant). The owner also wanted me to pass along the following info about the place being under new ownership: "We have eliminated the mandatory corkage fee which we were forced to charge before! We have dramatically lowered the half glass and full glass prices for wines on the enomatic machines! We have significantly expanded our selection of beers and sparkling wines at the bar! We have improved and expanded our selection of House Wines at the bar! We have introduced our new menu! We are not a restaurant, we are a wine bar - but we have great food!"
