Stanton College Preparatory Reviews

this school is awesome. im a freshman here and only have been going for about a month. the teachers are fantastic. the spanish teacher mrs burke is the best teacher there. all of the teachers have great educations and are willing to help any kid. GO BLUE DEVILS

One of the top schools in the nation, it deserves 5 stars. Academics are excellent, the student body is coherent, and a lack of discipline issues make this school top notch. If your student aspires to make it to a top college, but you don't want to pay all that money for a private school, Stanton is the way to go. Be warned however, that this school is not meant for the lighthearted.

Stanton is the best school I have ever attended. The academics are amazing, and the Drama program is also fantastic. Best school in Florida, and probably in the United States

Stanton is, without question, the best high school in Jacksonville, Florida, & the South. The academics are unparalleled and the band programs (especially the marching band) have one of the strongest histories in the city, one that stretches back before the school was a college prep school (it actually goes back to the early 20th century).

This school is excellent not only becuase of its challenging academic program, but becuase of the certain 'atmosphere' at the school. At Stanton, everyone wants to do well, and everyone supports each other and tries to help. I am a senior here, and I have never been to a school as unified as Stanton.

Truly a place to send your child for preperation for college. The classes I was taking at Stanton in 10th grade were more difficult than all of the classes in my first two years of college. The learning environment is unparalleled to any others. I would actually recommend parents going as far as to re-locate to Jacksonville, Florida if you have the opportunity to enroll your child at Stanton.

I am now attending Stanton and will be graduating in 2011. This is a very challenging school, but it is worth it. I went to James Weldon Johnson Middle which is also a college preparatory school. Both have taught be responsibility and self sacrifice for excellence. I feel I will be well prepared for college because the classes we have, even as freshman, are top level and always challenging. I am very blessed I live in Jacksonville and got the opportunity to attend this school. :]]

stanton is an amazing school. It is hard. Not as a freshman, but once in 10th grade IB, it becomes challenging. I would only recommend to those who are at the top of the top. To do well one must be committed. Some very smart people i see wasting away because of the choice to choose stanton, yet i am learning so much. It is not just the school that makes it hard. It is also the pressure to do other extra activities. A great school... yet it has caused many tears.

I rated this school a five star school. The performance of students and teachers working together is Oustanding...

Fabulous school. Excellent rowing team. Super combo for unbelievable college scholarships especially for females (who benefit from Title 9). Full scholarships in rowing have been given to females attending Stanford, University of Virginia, University of Miami and University of Michigan to name just a few. The academics at Stanton give them the groundwork to succeed at top colleges while the well-known rowing program attracts the collegiate coaches' attention.

High academic quality, great teachers,I could not been more thrilled to have my son go to this school.

Although the neighborhood is not brand-new and shiny, the academic environment is second to none. Stanton has been the best experience for our family and is preparing our daughter for the future like no other school. Those of us who are fortunate to have children at Stanton are very pleased.

The area is dangerous, and bussing involves waking up earlier than one should. It is the best public school in jacksonville, no doubt. I took my children out after 9th grade and sent them to bolles because even in the pre-ib program, they were not challenged enough. Bolles offered a more challenging ciriculum, better teachers, and a more promising future for my child. However, for a public school, it is very good.

I am a graduate of Stanton(1995) and I am now a math teacher in Michigan. There is no experience like the one I had at my home school. Stanton really prepared me for college. I finished magna cum laude at FAMU. I want to thank every teacher who encouraged me to do my best at all times. Stanton is the best in the Nation!

Students are great, as well as the teachers.

This is a great school that looks highly at academic achievement as well as at individual growth.

Stanton is not an average high school. it strives its students to meet high standards and is a great school for those who are willing to give it the amount of dedication needed. All core classes after about 10th grade are either IB, AP, or honor courses. Some courses are dual-enrollment with FCCJ, a local college. All of the academics are taken seriously and they are taught by oustanding teachers. Last year for the 10th AP Euro exam, Stanton got the highest amount of people pass it in the world. Outside extracurricular activities are in an abundant supply and if you can't find what you need then you can make another club with your interests. Parents are involved in school, but not to the detriment of hindering students social statuses. They are greatly appreciated and tend to help out the most in sports.

I attended Stanton from 2000-2005. My highschool experience was unlike any other. I am now a sophomore at UF and have yet to have teachers who care and are able to convey the material as well as the teachers at Stanton do. There's something dramatically different about Stnaton and its the environment it creates that fosters learning. There are no fights. The biggest problems that face the administrators are kids who skip art in order to study for a chemistry test.

The academic quality is high. All of my child's teachers are willing to help her learn. They truly care.

My son is a 9th grader in Pre-IB. I have found the quality of teachers to be incredible. They are inspirational, energetic, and well educated on the subjects they teach. They are way above the norm. They also provide many extracurricular activities.

Stanton is, without a doubt, the best public high school in Jacksonville. The students are driven. The teachers are inspiring and dedicated. I'm a graduate of Stanton and it has opened up so many doors for me.

This is a great school, great quality!

A great motivational environment not found at most secondary public schools. Opportunites for success are promoted. The teaching, administration and especially the guidance departments are a valuable assest to each student in attendance. My son just entered his senior year and I couldn't be more delighted with the Stanton experience he has been afforded.

School is great, academic challenge, but high competition in order to obtain a scholarship, good and safe.

My son graduated from Stanton last May, and will attend a state university on Bright Futures this month. He also is a National Merit Scholar. I can't say enough about how good this school is. A handful of the teachers are among the best I've ever seen, and all of them are good. But the real clincher is that there is no discipline problem ... since Stanton is an all-magnet school, any student that presents a potential one is merely threatened with being returned to his district high school! Stanton more closely resembles a junior college, and offers a better education -- for free -- than Bolles, University Christian or any other private school in the area (I have first-hand information for that).

I could not have been more thilled to have my kids go to this school. I think that the school is great and the curriculum is wonderful. The students are well rounded and very friendly. The teachers are wonderful and helpful.

Terrific school in general. Especially the IB program.

Stanton is great, particularly if you are doing the IB program and you're dedicated enough. You'll either hate it or you'll love it.

Attending this school allowed me to skip the stereotypical high school cliches. For that I am thankful. Some of the students show no mercy when it comes to getting the grades and it can get tough being around so many competitive individuals, but in the end, it was worth it. A truly great school.

Good school with a great cirriculum.

We left this school after 9th grade. There is only one lesson I learned as a parent: If your child wants to study and mature enough to understand that knowledge is important, he will not fail any school, even Stanton. My child went to neighborhood school and still did not perform well. So, Stanton is a good school for smart children.

I think very highly of this school. My son attended this school for 4 years and has grown and matured at an alarming rate, not only academically, but as a person. The majority of the teachers are of excellent stature and go the extra mile for the children. The guidance department does things that most high school guidance counselors don't do. The scholarships and admission into colleges are the big things that they help students with. But no one knows about the millions of transcript requests that they complete in a day. The school is well rounded. By far, the academics are superb. In addition to academics, these students produce award-winning art, plays, and place very high in band competitions. These students are not only gifted academically, but artistically. More importantly, the school teaches about being involved in the community.

Stanton is a good school for acedemic experience. It teaches and prepares you for college. It gives out alot of homework, sometimes are unessecary. The only thing my daughter does when she comes home from school is eat, work, and goes to sleep. Sometimes, I feel bad for her but I know it will all pay off. Stanton offers may after school activities that I think is very interesting.

My daughter attended Stanton for four years and came from Darnell-Cookman. We had a wonderful experience with the IB program and teachers. The IB teachers were always available to the students both academically and mentally. The advisors were very approachable and went the extra mile for IB students and parents. The curriculum was challenging, allowing all IB students to achieve their full potential. My daughter graduated with an IB diploma, was eligible for a four year Bright Futures Scholarship and able to enter college as a second semester Sophomore. College has been very easy, due to the caliber of Stanton studies and study skills she developed there. Over breaks and visits home I hear and friends sing the praises of the Stanton IB program. While at Stanton my daughter was active in sports and clubs. The leadership skills will follow her for life. I highly advise parents to look into Stanton.

Some of the smartest kids in America come from Stanton College Prep. Just to be an average student, you must take all honors classes and a minimum of 4 AP classes. There are many kids even above that who are in the IB program, which they receive college credit. An excellent and very smart school.

Stanton is an excellent school as long as your student is doing well. When a child has a problem it's your problem. The buck gets passed. My child is a student this year with trouble in math. The teacher hasn't responded to two voice mails and has cancelled his tutoring session, twice in the past four weeks. A call to the principals office, made earlier this week was suppose to be returned and wasn't. Stanton is for the well above average student. If you have trouble they don't want you. My child is from Darnell Cookman. A B honor roll.

Stanton College Prep School outranks and is largely better than most schools in the country. It was rated #2 in the Nation, that should speak for itself.

This is a wondeful learning experience. You have fun in the process too. Great teachers also.

The courses here are definitly not for the slackers life style. They are excellent for a child with high ambitions.
