Assumption Catholic School Reviews

Our daughter has attended ACS since pre-school. ACS had issues in the past caused by ineffective educators, administrators unaware of proper education materials and a lack of discipline. In 2004, a new principal was hired who implemented policy to turn ACS around. Since that time, ACS students' have flourished. The principal brought in the proper books, hired qualified educators, updated techonology and improved communication with parents. ACS improved its standardized testing scores and is now one of the highest rated schools in the diocese. However, without notice or cause the Pastor terminated the principal in January 2008 jeopardizing these advances. If I were coming to this school, fresh, I would inquire as to the leadership experience of the new adminstration and potential conflicts of interest since the principal now supervises her teacher husband. I would look to San Jose Catholic and St. Pauls instead!

I love working at Assumption. It is a growing, thriving Parish with a lot to offer the whole family. The teachers and parents work together to ensure each students' success.

This school has a lot to offer. They will have a brand new gym/family center open this summer. They have sports for all ages and abilities, they work with working parents to provide before/after school care and they even have a wonderful summer camp. But that is just the 'extra' stuff. The 4 Sisters that came last year have added to the faith formation of the entire community. Our family is blessed to call Assumption 'home'.

My family started out at another school in the Diocese, but when we moved closer to town we decided to switch, wow are we glad we did! My older students, who started out at the other school are not nearly as prepared as my younger child. There are plenty of opportunities for parental involvement if you have the time. Teachers are very friendly and work with parents to help the children reach their highest potential. The Pastor is very caring, and the addition of the four Sisters from the Home of the Mother have really added to the already great community. We couldn't be happier!

Assumption Catholic School is a wonderful school for my children. We moved from another state (and another Catholic school) and I would have to say that ACS has a leg up (if not 2). The academics are challenging and the staff works as if they have a personal investment in each child - which makes a positive difference. We are very happy and plan to be there a long time.

We've been at ACS for 3 years now and I can say that I am more than pleased with the quality of the education my children have received. The staff is very qualified, caring and good models of Christian values. Parent involvement is mandated and for those that choose to - can become very involved at the school (but leave the teaching to the teachers). The academics are challenging and the kids are more than prepared for top level high school academics. The tuition is incredibly reasonable and when you think of it as an investment in your children and their future - should be more valuable than your material acquisitions, and worth the sacrifice.

If your child is average and you think religion is more important than accademics then Assumption is your school. If your child is above average then go somewhere else if you want him/her to be challenge and open mind. They don't want parents involvement, they want your money, class size are going up at what ever cost!

My child has been at Assumption for 3 years now. If you are catholic, the rates are fantastic. If you are non-catholic it can be pretty expensive. I'm sure that a good education can be found there, but unfortunately, they prefer limited parental involvement. If you are looking for a caring place where you can be a part of your child's learning and childhood, you best look elsewhere. Let's just say be sure you ask the right questions before you sign the dotted line.

Assumption students have fared well when going on to high schools, with the majority going next door to Bishop Kenny. The program prepares them for high school.

ACS has a terrible math program. Discipline is VERY BAD in a few grades. There are some very good teachers here and then there are some that should have retired years ago. Parental involvement is required but most parents just do the minimum or try to skip it all together. They can't be bothered. Attitude amoung staff and parents is at times quite concerning.

They can do better, especially in the discipline department.

Experience limited to athletic teams. Coach is not well suited for molding future model athletes. Parents have a tendency to get out of control and abusive during athletic events. Attitude seems to have permeated the entire program.

My daughter is entering 2nd grade this year, and so far I am very pleased with the leadership, education and discipline at Assumption Catholic School. Alot of the teachers were actually students of Assumption and Bishop Kenney High School and take pride in educating the children.

ACS is a pretty good school, but by the time all of the discipinary problems were sovled the year was almost over. The majority of the teachers are great, but after school activies are not very well planned out.

The curriculum is challenging. Most of the teachers in the middle school make themselves available to discuss any concerns a parent may have with a child or any given situation. I have personally volunteered in the classroom and the teachers are vey appreciative of the support.

horrible teachers, not all but...kids cant read on their level.leadership very weak and lacking of willingness to help. They try to cover up any downfalls the students may show. Many fourth generation parents including myself pulled our children out before it was to late to help them get up to speed.
