The Bolles School Reviews

I am a Korean student who goes to this school. was thinking about transfering to other high school in my sophomore year, before I came to bolles as freshman;however, I changed my mind after I went for a semester, to stay in jacksonville. I found people here at Florida are more friendly to each other than any other parts of America. Also, the Bolles school offers many different subjects, including AP courses, to students, enabling them to challenge themselves. I don't know all the faculty members at this school, but from what i've seen about how they teach and help students impressed me tons. What I like the best about school is its wonderful athlete program. The School offers a comprehensive interscholastic athletic program for both male and female students.

I attended The Bolles School for 7 years and I am fully satisfied with their services. I believe the most important aspect the Bolles community offers is its environment-from its superior campus and learning atmoshpere to its easily accessable faculty and staff. There is not only emphasis on academics, but sports and the arts as well. Students should have no problem meeting their full potential as all of the necessary tools to do so are there.

We have two boys at Bolles. Having experienced the school from k-8 to date, I would not consider the Lower School program to be worth the high price. Although by getting the boys in the school at an early age we guaranteed them a place in the high school, which is terrific and very highly recommended indeed, in hindsight we may have been better sending our sons to a Christian private school and then applying to only the High School. We do not celebrate any 'religious' holidays which I personally miss. The middle school is very good. The kids are always challenged, even in kindergarten and the school uses honors and advanced English and Math programs to push the kids. HS has so many opportunities, I wish I was there! The students have great challenges that build their character and train them for college.

Bolles has an excellent academic program, small classes and a faculty that is well-educated and devoted to its job as teachers and educators. The faculty gives many extra hours to the school in activties that are extracurriular or that involve keeping parents informed. There is an excellent book group for parents who want to know what kind of instruction students are getting in English and literature courses. Also, there is an extensive number of AP courses available to students who want to be challenged. A counseling staff works extensively to make sure that all students are college-bound. The school also has a wide range of sports activites that students can become involved in. These include a world-class swimming program and a football team that has won the state championship numerous times.

Academics are excellent, far superior to any school that I have known. My son was involved in a couple of sports and had a wonderful experience-would have been involved in other things, but sports and studying took up most of his time. The parents are really supportive of this school and believe in the way things are done here. My son went in as an average student and came out above average with a chance to go to several top colleges. It made him a better student.

We have 2 students at Bolles and we are very pleased. This school turns out very well rounded students ready for college curriculum. The academic rigor is very, very high--and 2-3 hrs of homework for our middleschooler is about avg. Our highschool student has about the same amount, maybe more with all the AP classes. Besides academics, Bolles offers every student options in sports, fine and performing arts and community service. Most students try new things and find a passion in a sport or arts option that is entirely new to them. Our students are getting an outstanding education and taking advantage of the opportunities to grow at Bolles. It is a financial commitment but financial aid is available. Students that leave, do so because they cannot compete at the academic level or because they are invited to not come back because they are behavior problems. Bolles has high standards.

I'm now in college, but I went to Bolles a few years ago. Pros: Excellent teachers, beautiful campus, great athletic facilities, lots of school spirit, and the boarding students are all Olympic caliber swimmers from around the world Cons: The Honor code is a joke at this school, it doesn't apply to the super wealthy kids who's parents donate, or kids who have connections on the board of trustees. Football players are also pretty much immune from discipline as well. Also, Bolles has the 'every class, every day' schedule. Eight classes every day @ 45 mins each. This doesn't prepare students for the long lectures and big papers that await them in college.

Superb school with a physical plant that would rival most colleges and universities. While there were a few merely average teachers at the middle school, the teachers at the Whitehouse lower school and the San Jose upper school have uniformly been nothing short of exceptional! A number of the teachers even have doctorates. The school focuses not only on academics but also on sports, and a very high percentage of students play at least one organized sport. If your child is not an athlete, though, there are other avenues in which he or she can excel: theatre, band, service clubs, etc. Each high school student is assigned a 'college counselor' in 11th grade (separate from the regular academic counselor), and many graduates go to elite colleges and universities.

My child attended this school for two years. The academics were good. The administration had priorities in the wrong place. The campus is nice. The students also are not treated equally.

Small class size. The social climate at this school was difficult. This school is geared for students who excel in sports.

After 3 children and 5 grandchildren I must confess that it is an outstanding school. It has educated eight very different individuals to enjoy learning, sports, community activities and motivated them to excel.

I have two children attending Bolles. One is in the lower school and the other in middle school. I have found the teachers excellent and feel that they have a sincere desire to make my children successful. My children would be heartbroken if they did not attend Bolles. There life would not be complete. I have never in all of the years that they have attended Bolles ever say that they did not feel like going.Parental involvement is essential and be ready once your child hits second grade homework has only just begun. Middle school requires 2-3 hours of homework a day . With the level of learning I am very proud to say that both of my children are very successful at Bolles because of the whole package that is offered.

Excellent academics and an athletic program second to none. It is very pricey but I wouldn't send my children anywhere else, especially because of the poor public school system here in Jax at the high school level!

I went to Bolles for middle and high school. I'm very happy with my decision to undertake a Bolles education and can't speak highly enough of my experience there. I had all the resources needed to succeed, including a positive environment for learning which tends to be lacking in the public school system. I am very appreciative of my parents for sending me to Bolles.

i go here and its amazing

Excellent academics and sports. Safe environment.

the academics are good but the attitude of bolles and the kids at bolles is not exactly outstanding!

We could not be happier about the Bolles School at Ponte Vedra

I am a Bolles girl and have been going there for 9 years. The quality of the academics is amazing! The teachers are helpful and always willing to teach again if you are not understanding something! The music, arts, sports or any other extracurricular activties are always available to anyone that wants to join in! Parents are always asked to be involved in their students work habits and are always updated on how their child is doing! Overall if you are looking for a good private school in the Jacksonville area or a good boarding school this is a good choice!

Excellent school, faculty and facilities.

Excellent school with high level of parental involvement. Accelerated in every aspect including, music, art, sports. Extracurricular activities are varied and appealling. All of the teachers are outstanding and very personable, as is the principal and the administrative assistant. Well worth the tuition.

The school is awesome. My son is has a problem putting forth an effort. So with high school tuition at $15,000 next year we are trying to decide whether to switch him to our local public school which has an outstanding reputation in our area.

Excellent programs--especially science math English and Band. Many extracurricular activities, opportunities for parents to be involved. Tough social atmosphere though.

Great variety of courses and outstanding honors and AP programs are available.

We love the Bolles School. The teachers are committed to giving each child one on one attention, specifically targeting their individual liking and needs so your child has an overall positive experience and will love going to school. There are many extracurricular activities to choose from from the arts to sports to foreign languages.

The Bolles School is one of the best schools in the country. We love everything about it, the curriculum, the teachers, the athletics and the administration. Top notch! Excellent!

Bolles brings out the uniqueness of the individual student through extraordinary academics, superior athletics and arts, and strong leadership and service.

If you are looking for a school that's not trying to fit your child into a box, Bolles is a great choice. They have the resources to challenge each student at his/her own level and find the areas that make him/her unique. Whether you are looking for academics, sports or other activities, Bolles has it all.

This school is top notch. Academically it has to be one of the best in the country. They provide more than academics. They promote the arts and incorporate drama, art, music, dance into academic themes from kindergarten on up Extracurricular activities are definiately encouraged and their sports programs are excellent. This school will make any student well rounded and ready for the future.

I have had two sons graduate from this school. Excellent academics and college preparation. Outstanding advisement program and assistance with college planning. Very good extra-curricular program with many choices for the student.
