San Jose Elementary School Reviews

my daughter went to this school and last year she graduated from elem. its a really good school there all of fun actvities best school!!

Parents, My 10 yr old came to this school with only 3 months left in the school year, the teachers the principle and the assistant principle took time out of their schedule to make sure my daughter caught up with the other students and before the school was out for summer vaction my daughter was on the A B honor roll ...and for that I feel that this school really care about its studentsand that this school is above average

Both of my children have attended San Jose and I have no complaints. My daughter has learned basic spanish in her extended day program and my son is in the gifted classes. My son's reading level is excellent for his age group. I have no worries at all , of sending my children to San Jose and take comfort in knowing that they are receiveing a good education

I was very disappointed w/this school. I enrolled my kids in this school b/c of the Magnet Program. My children had several incidents of violent acts toward them. As a result of this, one of my children has become more aggressive. I witnessed an incident against another child on the playground. Four boys surrounded one boy. They threw him on the ground. One child then put his foot on the child's back. They began to hit him and throw dirt on the child. The teachers were standing together talking. I overheard some of the teachers say that it is the child's responsibility to act appropriately. When I and other parents brought the issue to their attention they made excuses. They say they want parental involvement. However, make us feel uncomfortable. Some of the teachers are really good. However, they are not backed up by the administration. Therefore, they feel helpless.

My daughter is in the 5th grade, and this is her second year here. We love this school! Her two teachers are very warm, and caring. It's true that this is a only a 'C' school, but that is only because of the children who speak little if any English when they first get here.

The school is a 'C' rated school but my children (Kindergarten & 3rd grade) are receiving an excellent education at the school. The staff is attentive and concerned and really try to 'take care of' the kids and address all types of problems. Also, there are many students who don't know English and are from many foreign countries and I think that is why the school has a 'c' rating. How can you pass the FCAT if you're new to the country and aren't yet proficient in English? You can't. The grades are deceiving if you don't look at the overrall picture. If I could rate San Jose, I'd give it a B+
