Samuel W. Wolfson High School Reviews

Most teachers are their for the kids it troubles me when they are not and take it out on the kids

My biggest complaint is having some of the teachers call you back. You must be an aggressive parent that stays on top of things.

This school is completely disorganized. But the classes and teachers are dedicated to the Students

My daughter has matured and excelled at Wolfson in the Avid program!

I think Wolfson is poorly managed. The teachers are not accountable. It's Ghetto.

Graduating from Wolfson in 1 of the baddest claases ever (04') was kind of rough... but overall Wolfson was a great school! Granted some of the teachers are not as dedicated as others but the percentage is definately awarded to the good ones. Wolfson did prepare me for the 'real world' and I'm highly greatful for that! I wouldn't have picked another school over it and if I could I'd go back!!

I am a parent and I found it quite disturbing everytime I call the guidance, no one is available and no one returns your calls. Also, my daughter is a freshman and the 1st grading period is almost over and she has only taken one test in Algebra. She does not appear to be learning. I was also surprised to find out that if my daughter participates in a teaching session she will receive and automatic A in her Algebra class which she now has a D average in. What is going on here. Is this teaching or just letting the students pass by. This will only hurt the students when they pursue college educations.

Wolfson is a good school, actually. I'm a freshman, so I didn't know what to expect. I'm fortunate that none of the seniors are picking on the freshmen. Overall, this school rocks! Send your kids here, and they'll learn alot!

This school is horrible. We have a few fantastic teachers, but the others are completely inept. I've had several classes that I never learned a thing in.

samuel w. wolfson rocks! its filled with a commited staff and a dedicated group of students. WOLFPACK! we in here baby!

This school is terrible. I work and during the day I try to call to get an appointment to talk to someone in guidance. You would think the school is closed. Everyone is away from their desk or on the phone that's the message I've gotten for two weeks. I finally got someone got their fax number. I faxed a note I am still waiting to hear from someone. My son just got his books today 8/29/2008, u know when school started. Teachers seem not to care I send my son to school daily. He a good kid average grades. I afraid he not being prepared for college or the world. I do my part but he's at school during the day what are they doing

My skool is the bomb. We have a great athletic program. We has the best teachers ever. Teachers are always happy and excited to teach us.

I see very mixed results at Wolfson. Some of the teachers have been very good- others seem to be burnt out. There is good education available, AS LONG AS the parents are involved. We can't totally blame the schools.

The A-B Schedule is hurting students ability to keep up. Eight classes at once is a ridiculous idea.

I am a senior at wolfson (class of 08), and the last year and a half have been full of disappointment. We have teachers whose are determined to see that their students fail, guidance has been non-existant it seems, and when they are present, they either change nothing, or make things worse. Administration does nothing about the concerns of parents...or students for that matter. The only bright spot was the lack of fights, which is no longer a bright spot, but yet another issue. The switch from block format to A-B format has made things harder for the students, especially those with AP classes; and because seniors like myself who would've been able to graduate a semester early, cannot do so now. Except for my first 2 years here, I am disappointed.

I think this year is one the most unmotivated classes ever. Things aren't organized & theres barely any activities planned for seniors!!! I also think there's not enough info presented to seniors & parents. The guidance is terrible!

I have never had such a problem with a school in the history of the schools my sons have attended. transferred both from another, out of state, high school. My older son was no problem. My younger son has been met with nothing but problems and the problem is still not corrected. One particular guidance counselor doesn't seem to know what is going on or even care. Need a refresher course in how to tranfer credits and if there is a question need to learn to call someone and not guess.

Teachers work hard and prepare students to succeed. Have been pleased with the academic side. It's the attitude of some students and their behavior that I have not been pleased with. All in all is a good school.

My school is off the chain, and I don't care who say different. We got some of the best teachers there, and some of the best programs, especially after school programs. They keep the students want to do more, and be better because everybody wants to play a sport, and if you want to play a sport, you have to be able to keep them grades up. So I am going to rep my school all the way to Howard university. Class of '2011' By: Shonae Booker a.k.a Nae Nae

The IEP program is not all that. Don't think, just because you speak with a guidance counselor on a regular basis and meet in person with the IEP department, that your child's teachers will know your student has an IEP. If your child has one, you know there are valid reasons why special classroom accommodations are made. Teachers are REQUIRED to know about & provide these accommodations in order to insure your student's success on every level. My child, like many with an IEP, is very bright. She spent her summer, at my expense, working hard to recover one of 2 missing credits from last year. Too bad public school couldn't teach an IEP student during the school year on my tax dollar. You can bet I won't assume the right thing will be done this year. They will all know my face before too many days go by.

Wolfson was a horrible experience. Good luck getting a live person to answer the phone, or return your calls. We have three years of unreturned calls on which to base this statement. When you show up in person, because no one returned your calls, you are met with indifference. Efforts to get transcripts corrected, and later to get transcripts sent to colleges were repeatedly met with frustration. A few teachers were very good.

The safety is lacking because there are many instances where students express there concerns and no one listens or takes them into consideration. Overall Wolfson needs a big turn around.

The level of academics is a joke. Most teachers are simply trying to pass the day. Block scheduling is joke. Get your kid out before its to late.

Samuel W. Wolfson High School, is am excellent school, with outstanding teachers, who care for the students. The advisors, as well, as great.

This was the worst school I have ever seen in my life. The new principal(Mr gracy)has done nothing with parents who have come to him with major concerns.

Wolfson was the worst experience my children could ever deal with in a School. The language, disrespect and out of control daily atmosphere that is accepted is horrific! The majority of the faculty could care less! Somebody needs to stop sweeping the issues under the rug and save our children.

I have 2 children attending this High School. I am appalled with the lack luster effort given by some of the teachers in this school. Is this suppose to be a school preparing our children for a higher level of education or are they in a prison. I plan on removing my children from this school as soon as possible.

As far as the courses, teachers and acedemics, there isn't much of a problem, except I'd like more updates from the school on what's going on! The athletics Dept needs major help, last year my daughter was on the soccer team and wasn't able to participate in some of the efforts to earn extra money for their team, and was told she still had to pay out of pocket expenses for her share. This would not of been a problem if she had been told in advance of the obligations

I believe, like any other school, wolfson has its share of problems. Although this is true, it is not that different than any other school. My daughter attends this school and does very well. It may not be the best school but I believe its safe enough for all children.

Academics were excellent, the teaching staff were, for the most part ,focused on the students and thier well being. Administration, however, left much to be desired. Personal and professional conduct when talking with students or thier parents was more like a trainer and his animal, than a cooperative relationship between educator and student. Not all administration were 'bad apples', but the ones with the highest rank within the school to be allowed to be the keepers of our children is unacceptable.

Simply, I cannot say enough about the faculty at Wolfson. That their cooperative efforts have made them a valuable part of the 'Village' that is raising my child is an understatement. I am confident that my son, now a sophomore, is receiving thoughtful and encouraging advice from teachers and counselors available to him at Wolfson. Every adult at Wolfson -- and many of the students! - have made every effort to assist me in making sure that my son gets a quality education, is prepared for whatever he chooses to do in the future, and makes each day count! Each time I have reached out to them, they have been concerned and responsive, and have made every effort to follow up with me. Thanks to the Mighty Mighty Wolfpack that is Wolfson High School.

Wolfson staff and students work together to achieve academic goals. This is a comprehensive high school with a great extracurricular program.

Moved here from NY a year ago. School treats the kids like prisoners. Security guard(head) continually called my son boy, which is politically incorrect repeatdly even after I met with principal. Classes are too long over 130min when everyone knows kids only retain first 45 mins of class. more concerned with dress code and id badges than in course content
